What it does and when to use it
Ctrl+X marks the selection to move, the arrows take you to the destination, Ctrl+V moves it. Unlike copy, cut keeps the references in moved formulas pointing at the same cells.
The common mistake
Cutting and pasting over a cell that other formulas depend on: those formulas now point at the moved location. Use copy and paste values if you only need the number.

Questions
Why does cut and paste change my other formulas?
Formulas that referred to the cut cell follow it to the new place. That is by design; copy instead if you do not want them to follow.
